DIY: YSL chunky chain chocker or bracelet under one minute

left: YSL chunky chain chocker; right: my DIY version
This plastic chain trim from JoAnns is quite expensive ($20/yard).  But if you get only about 10", it's just $5.55 minus 40% or 50% off if you use their coupon.  And did you know JoAnns accepts competitors' coupons too?!  With only 10" chain trim you can make either a bracelet or a necklace.  The trim is available at JoAnns stores in silver, gold and black.

Optional: add a lock charm salvaged from an old purse or from a child's diary (some of them have cute little locks on them).

The chain I used is plastic and its links snap easily together.  Sold at JoAnns in their trimming section.  Below is a photo from JoAnns flyer demonstrating how to make a belt, but I tried and the ribbon kept slipping out of the link openings.  However, without ribbon by just snapping links together turned out quite reliable for a bracelet or necklace.

  1. very cool! i'd never guess from the photo that your DIY version is plastic. must be easy to wear (light weight), too.
