DIY: Metallic Lace Collar Necklace Tutorial

Inspiration: Polli Stainless Steel Woven Collar 219.95 AUD

What I used:
lace trimming from JoAnn's (it came with a ribbon inside) - about 12"
black ribbon - about 33"
Krylon Metallic Spray Paint from Walmart - silver (or gold)

First, I pulled the ribbon out and cut the lace to form two 5" pieces as shown below (you can round the ends for the peter pan collar look).

Next, I spray-painted the lace using Krylon Metallic Spray Paint in Silver:

After this step the collar will smell like paint, but the smell will wear off in a few hours.  Also,  after the painted collar dried, it was still flexible and somewhat soft (to my surprise).
Finally, thread the ribbon through. This can be done in two ways depending on where you want to tie the ribbon (front or back).

can be tied in the back
...or tie a bow in the front

  1. Absolutely lovely. I must have a go at it.

  2. cool!!! i love it!
